October Ministry Update
Hello Friends!
I hope you are all doing well! September has flown by and I am amazed at how much has happened this last month! Schedules are setting and I have been able to settle into more of a routine which has been nice! My hours have looked a lot different this year since I am on campus for 40 of my 45 hours! So with all that… let’s dive in and talk about September!
Fall Camp!
Our fall camp was early this year and fell on the last week of September! In the past we have had around 80 students attend, but this year we had over 130! What a blessing! The students were so engaged, whether it be with the worship, the sermons, or the community time! I always leave fall camp feeling more connected with the students and with a vision of what God is dreaming up for our campus this school year!
TCC!
We got to officially start things at TCC and have now had 5 weeks of core (small group) there! We have had a consistent group of students attending and it has been so fun getting to know them! Something they have all expressed is a curiosity of what role community plays not only in the life of a believer but also their personal life. With that, we decided to finish out the semester by studying different attributes we see in the early church community from acts and Paul’s letters!
We also as of October 1st got our official re-approval to be a student org! This is a huge thing as it allows students to be able to find us through the TCC website! Praise God!!
FOJ (Focus on Jesus)
Our one on one bible study’s have also started and have been going well. I am getting to meet weekly with 7 girls and have 2 more starting up this next week! This study challenged me so much when I was a student, and it is such a blessing to be able to walk with these girls as they encounter scripture!
Honorable ministry mentions!
So much of my job is one on one ministry, but there are always things that pop up throughout the month that also bring so much joy to my normal week! Whether it’s helping change a car battery, hosting movie and study nights or even running into students while out and about, it reminds me why community is something to be cherished!
Thank you!
I write these blogs and get to reflect on just a few things I have to be grateful for from the past month! As I write these posts I realize even more how grateful I am to those who have made this possible! Thank you for joining me in this! Thank you for being so faithful to Christ, and so generous with what he gives. This ministry wouldn’t be what it is without him or y’all!
Prayer requests:
You may have received an email from our director about the new law that went into effect on sept.1 that allows universities to limit free speech after a certain time of day, which can very much impact how we do outreach and minister to students. Focus has joined a lawsuit against the UT campus system. We would love prayer over this. You can read more here :Christianitytoday
In Christ,
Madison
