November Ministry Update!
Hello Friends!
I hope y’all have had an amazing month! Welcome back to another monthly update about what God is doing at UTA and TCC! October is the ONLY month of ministry where we do not have a big event, retreat or school break! It always seems to feel like routine seems to be the perfect word for this month. Weekly times set with people always find their groove, and our cores (small groups) have a consistent flow! I feel as though God has been so visionary for this year and I love seeing it come to life!
Thank you!
I feel as though God has been putting generosity on my heart more than ever this past month. As I have been thinking through ways God is inviting me into being more generous I think of you all. You have set a faithful example of what it looks like to know that what you have first belongs to the Lord! I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without your support, so thank you so much!
Hispanic heritage service!
One of my favorite memories from this month was the Hispanic heritage night we did as our large group meeting! We sang in Spanish and had students share about how God has worked through their culture to create tradition, worship and community in many ways! What a beautiful thing!
Fun TCC hangouts
Our core at TCC has been going really well and the students have grown in confidence and engaging with one another! My cofa (co-small group leader) and I started doing monthly hangouts outside of the core and this month we hosted a pumpkin painting night! Almost our entire core came and it was such a fun night!
We also had Abby’s birthday and got to go do some pottery painting! It is always so sweet to be able to be part of our students life and I think celebrating them is one of my favorite ways to do that!
Supporting students!
This month one of my friends Brea, who I do FOJ with wrote and published a book! UTA does a farmers market style event where the students can sell their products and creations! It was so cool to get to visit brea, eat my lunch with her and watch her interact with people and pitch her book, but also get to buy one and watch her sell out! What a sweet moment to get to see her try something and see it pay off!
Every year we have hosted a TNF where students are invited to do group costumes with their cores! We as the staff will dress up as a group and this year we went with Gen Z slang terms (clocked, brain rot, slay queen etc.)! We also do a contest and these were the winners for most creative (Simon-peter Parker) and group costume (Sesame Street)!
Keep Focus Growing
Every year we do a special fundraiser called keep focus growing (KFG) where we invite people to come join in a new way with our ministry. While we as a staff fundraise our salaries, we as a ministry’s have lots of other expenses (outreach supplies, worship equipment, camps, and etc). Every year we have a group of donors who pledge a matched amount and this year we have $73,000 in matching funds! Praise God!
If this is something that interests you here’s a link with more information and where you can participate!
Again, thank you for joining me in this!
In Christ,
Madison McBride
