December Ministry Update
Hello Friends
I hope you all are doing well and had an amazing time celebrating Thanksgiving! I love the holiday season and the amount of reflecting it brings! I have so much to be grateful for and you, the people reading this are a huge reason. I love getting to do college ministry, and it wouldn't be possible without you! So I am thinking of you this holiday season!
God, as always moved in some cool ways this November and I want to share that with you!
ACC Bowling Night!
The church that I attend here in Arlington hosted a bowling night for us to go to! It is always a way to connect with not only our church members but also our students! Brea and I get to study the bible together every week, and it was so fun to bet to bowl and go to the arcade with her as well!
Pizza Theo!
Every semester we host pizza theology, where we as an entire ministry (all campuses) will study more in depth a book or topic! We normally will do 2 hours of lecture, 1 hour of pizza, and end with 2 more hours of lecture! This year we brought in a guest speaker from Regent College Seminary, Rikk Watts who is phenomenal when it comes to teaching! I got to take his new Testament class last semester and it was so neat to hear him talk about the book of John in person!
Trip with the UTA Women's staff
We as the women staff got to do a trip together to Hot Spring Arkansas! Not only was it an awesome opportunity to grow our relationships to one another and bond... we also used that time to each go do a spiritual retreat with God. I love getting to go out and spend time with the Lord, and my favorite way of doing that is going outside and just being with him, so thats what I did. I got dropped off in the national park and spent about 4 hours there, just sitting in silence, hiking and talking and reading scripture. I found myself re-reading Psalm 103. I have been talking through the grace lesson in FOJ and this Psalm always stands out to me when it comes to the grace that the Lord has for us.
8The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Josiah Queen Concert
Focus got to partner with the campus nights tour that Josiah Queen and Hulvey were putting on at UTA!
Our students were given some free tickets and I got to attend with them! We had around 40 students go
and it was such a cool experience! I would have to say one of my favorite parts was that a few students
made it a priority to go and meet students that were there to invite them to our fellowship night!
Keep Focus Growing!
Every year we do an annual fundraiser called Keep Focus Growing. We are in the last few days of this fundraiser and have about $50,000 left of matching funds! KFG helps us pioneer new college campuses (like launching TCU last year) and helps with insurance costs, outreach supplies and other needs. If you are looking to give this holiday season KFG is such an amazing opportunity! You can find more info here: anyfocus.org/kfg2025
Happy Holidays!
In Christ,
Madison
